AutoCAD 2008

I finally received my copy of AutoCAD 2008 this week. Autodesk have to improve their order tracking system. I will talk about some features over the next few months. The best new feature is annotative scaling of text, dimensions and hatches.

J'ai finalement recu ma copie d'AutoCAD 2008 cette semaine. Autodesk doivent améliorer leur system de gestion des commandes. Je vais discuter des nouveautés au cours des prochains mois. La nouveauté que j'adore déjà est le annotative scaling des textes, dimensions et hachures.

One month of Vista / Un mois de Vista

I have been running Windows Vista Business for a month now at home and overall, I like it. Lots of changes but many things have stayed the same. I will describe some features in future posts.

Depuis un mois, je travail avec Windows Vista Business chez moi et j'aime cette version. Il y a beaucoup de changements mais plusieurs fonctionalités sont encore pareilles. Je vais décrire certaines fonctions dans des posts futur.

AutoCAD 2007 + LT 2007 SP2

Hi! Just to mention that SP2 for AutoCAD 2007 and LT 2007 is available. You will need your installation disks to install it. This patch fixes many small bugs and enables Windows Vista compatibility. Any other version of AutoCAD will not run on Vista (as Autodesk says).

Salut! Juste pour mentionner que SP2 pour AutoCAD 2007 et LT 2007 est maintenant disponible. Vous allez avoir besoin de votre disc d'installation pour l'appliquer. Ce correctif corrige plusieurs petits irritants et ajoute de la compatibilté pour Windows Vista. Toute autre version d'AutoCAD n'est pas compatible avec Vista (d'après Autodesk).

Sorry for not posting for sooooo long but it's been a hectic spring. Anyway, the best new feature of the 2008 Autodesk product line is the Annotation Scaling feature. It allows the annotations in a drawing to adapt to changes in the drawing scale.

Je m'excuse pour mon absence durant les derniers mois mais le printemps a été très occupé. Dans la série de produits 2008 d'Autodesk, mon ajout préféré est le Annotation Scaling. Il permet la transformation automatique des annotations dans un dessin lorsqu'il y a un changement dans l'échelle du dessin.

AutoCAD 2007 Corrections

I have answered several questions concerning out to patch AutoCAD 2007 and other 2007-based programs. When a patch consists of a single file like a .DLL, rename the old file with a .OLD extension and then copy the new file to the same folder. The screenshot from my computer shows the resulting files.

J'ai répondu à plusieurs questions concerant comment appliquer les correctifs pour AutoCAD 2007 et les autres produits 2007. Lorsqu'un correctif consiste d'un fichier comme un .DLL, renommez le vieux fichier avec une extension .OLD et ensuite, copiez le nouveau fichier dans le même dossier. La capture d'écran de mon poste illustre le résultat.

Windows Vista + AutoCAD

Last I heard, Autodesk says that no current versions of AutoCAD will run on Windows Vista. The 2008 version that should be available in the spring should be compatible. Stay tuned for more info.

La dernière nouvelle est qu'Autodesk dit qu'aucune version courante d'AutoCAD va fonctionner sur Windows Vista. La version 2008 qui devrait apparaitre au printemps devrait être compatible. Revenez voir pour plus d'infos.

More IE7 / Plus de IE 7

I have been trying out the new IE7 and apart from my last blog entry, I do like the tabbed browsing and the improved Favorites.

J'ai travaillé avec IE7 et j'aime beaucoup la navigation avec les onglets et les Favoris améliorés.

Bug with IE7 / Bogue avec IE7

I installed IE7 this weekend and noticed 2 bugs. First, the AutoCAD Communication Center in AutoCAD 2006 no longer functions. More a less a pain in the butt but a problem nonetheless. Second, my computer was infected with a malware through this supposedley "better safer version" of IE. I used PrevX to clean out my system (www.prevx.com). More to follow on these problems.

J'ai installé IE7 en fin de semaine et 2 bogues sont apparus. En premier lieu, le Centre de Communication d'AutoCAD 2006 n'est plus fonctionnel. Plus ou moins important mais problématique néanmoins. En deuxième lieu, mon ordi a été infecté par un malware par l'entremise de cette nouvelle version "plus sécure" d'IE. J'ai utilisé PrevX pour nettoyer mon système (www.prevx.com).

Bond. James Bond.

My wife and I saw "Casino Royale" on the weekend. I was very impressed by the story, film and Daniel Craig. A great action movie! Of all the Bonds, Craig's portrayal of 007 is very reminiscent of the original Bond, Sean Connery. Technology takes a backseat to the story and action in this installment, #21 in films and #1 in chronological order of the stories. Worth the price of admission.

De tout les Bonds, la performance de Craig est très proche du Bond originale, Sean Connery. La technologie prend un pas de recule en faveur de l'histoire et l'action dans le 21e film qui est le 1er en ordre chronologique des histoires. Ca veut le prix d'admission.

Opening the command line from Explorer / Ouvrir une ligne de commande à partir d'Explorateur

I found a cool trick in the book Visual C# Step by Step. Go to the Folder Options in Windows Explorer and click on the File Types tab. Select the Folder entry and click on the Advanced button. Add a new Action called Command with the instruction C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe. From this point forward, when you right-click on a folder, you will have an option to open a command line in that folder.

J'ai trouvé un bon truc dans le livre Visual C# Step by Step. Ouvrez les Options des dossiers dans Explorateur Windows and appuyez sur l'onglet Types de fichiers. Sélectionnez l'option Dossier et appuyez sur le bouton Avancé. Ajoutez une Action avec le nom Commande avec l'instruction C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe. Maintenant, lorsque vous faites un bouton-droit sur un dossier, l'option d'ouvrir une ligne de commande s'affichera.

My wife and I were watching "The Naked gun" with Leslie Nielsen on Sunday. Best Nielsen movie EVER!!! It is still funny after almost 20 years. We were chuckling out loud!
